Tenby has two lifeboat stations. The newer, larger building that is operated by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) came into use in 2005. It houses the Tamar Class lifeboat, "Haydn Miller". The older lifeboat station began operations a century earlier in 1905. When it was superseded by its bigger neighbour the RNLI was refused permission to demolish it and so it was sold to a private buyer. It was then turned into a four bedroom dwelling which became habitable in 2011.In the top photograph the old lifeboat station is in the foreground. The newer building is partially visible to the right.
